A standing-desk company that also sells chairs

Vari describes itself as "a workspace innovation company" that works with "growing organizations" on their offices and staff. It sells its own designs direct, and the site's shipping-region selector lists the United States, Australia, Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom and South Africa, the last one marked "(Dealer)", so buyers there go through a reseller rather than ordering from Vari itself. Each region has its own English-language storefront. The help line printed in the site header is +1 (800) 207-2587, and the product pages advertise "U.S. Based Customer Service."

The company's own story starts with a desk, not a chair. Its about page says Vari made its first product for a colleague who wanted a simple way to stand up at work, and that the original VariDesk sit-stand converter "set the standard for the industry." Customers then asked for more office furniture sold the same direct way, and the range grew into electric standing desks, conference tables, lighting, movable walls, storage and seating. That history shows in the navigation: seating is one menu among many, split into Office Chairs, Conference Seating, Multi-Purpose Seating and Lounge Seating, with Active Seating filed under the Sit-Stand menu next to standing desks and converters.

The Studio Chair and Studio Drafting Chair

The mesh chair on the site is the Studio Chair, which Vari sums up as a "streamlined, one-piece mesh design." The product page showed it at $299.00 in Black (item no. 403250), in stock with free standard shipping. The seat and back are a single piece of mesh, and a center-tilt mechanism lets seat and back move together from upright to recline. The page lists adjustable height and tilt, "multi-surface casters" meant for carpet, hardwood and concrete floors, and what Vari calls "quick, tool-free setup." Weight capacity is stated as "up to 250 lb." The site says the chair is tested to BIFMA X5.1-2017 and "meets or exceeds BIFMA's durability standards for office furniture."

The Studio Drafting Chair is the tall version of the same idea: "tall, one-piece mesh design," the same center-tilt mechanism and mesh seat and back, plus an aluminum footrest. It carries the same 250 lb rating and the same BIFMA X5.1-2017 test statement. The page showed it at $349.00 in Dove Grey/Pewter (item no. 403252), marked not in stock with an expected date of 10/17/26. It suits a counter-height desk or a standing desk left at a middle height, where a normal task chair sits too low.

Neither product page lists seat height or seat depth figures in its text. Instead each one offers a downloadable spec sheet that, in Vari's words, gives "full details on size, weight capacity, finishes, maintenance, and more," plus installation instructions. Buyers who need to check seat height against a desk should download that sheet before ordering. Both pages also carry a California Proposition 65 notice naming DEHP, and the product list attached to that notice includes Task Chairs and the Drafting Chair.

Warranty, shipping and returns

Vari's warranty wording is short: "if there's a problem, Vari will replace the whole product under our 5 year warranty." The chair pages do not spell out exclusions or whether the term differs for commercial use, so the length is clear but the conditions are not.

A banner across every page reads "FREE SHIPPING + FREE RETURNS." The product pages narrow that to free shipping in the contiguous US, say most orders ship the next business day, and say ground shipping usually takes 2 to 5 days to most areas. Returns are a 30-day window: "If you don't love your Vari product within 30 days, simply call us and we'll arrange a free return." For a mesh chair bought without sitting in it first, that return window is the main safety net, and it is simpler than the restocking fees some furniture sellers charge. The site also claims its products have "thousands of 5-star reviews from verified purchasers," which is Vari's own figure.

The storefront runs regular promotions. At the time of writing the header advertised a standing desk sale and "20% Off Electric Standing Desks for a Limited Time," and the Deals menu lists Sale, Clearance, Open-Box and an Essential Collection. The chair prices above were the list prices shown on the day, not sale prices.

Buying for an office

A large part of the site is aimed at businesses rather than one person at a kitchen table. The Workplace menu covers "Vari for Business," Office Furniture Solutions, Design and Installation Services, Remote Work Solutions and a Project Estimator, and there are industry pages for Federal Government, State & Local Government, Architecture & Design and Education. Each chair page has a "Request A Quote" button, a link to bulk pricing, and an offer of "a Free Space Plan with your project quote," along with "custom space planning, project management, and installation" for commercial fit-outs.

Vari also runs a showroom that visitors can book as a guided tour, publishes case studies, and offers VariSpace, which it describes as "fully-furnished workspaces with first-class amenities and flexible space solutions." Its TechTrack system is a rail for desk accessories that, in the site's words, lets buyers "add, adjust, and personalize accessories instantly," and the newer Quick Cubicle Solutions use it to build private workstations and focus pods. None of that is seating, but it explains why a company that sells a $299 mesh chair also has a sales team for government contracts.

The Studio Chair is a simple chair by design. It has one mesh shell, a center-tilt mechanism, height and tilt adjustment, and no separate lumbar or armrest adjustments mentioned on its page. Buyers who want a long list of adjustments will find more of them elsewhere in this directory. What Vari offers instead is a clearly stated weight rating, a named BIFMA test, a 5 year replace-the-product warranty and a free 30-day return, all at a price shown on the page.

It fits best for someone who already owns or is buying a Vari standing desk and wants seating from the same seller, for a drafting-height setup that needs a mesh stool with a footrest, and for small and mid-sized offices that want one vendor to plan, deliver and install desks, partitions and chairs together.
