A Zurich brand that sells office chairs direct

ofinto is a Swiss office furniture brand that designs its own chairs, desks, lighting and storage and sells them online at ofinto.ch and in person at a showroom in Zurich, with no dealer in between. The country selector covers Switzerland in German, French and English plus Germany, Austria and France, and the about page says the company grew beyond Switzerland in 2022 into "Sechs europäische Länder" (six European countries). Prices are shown in Swiss francs including VAT, the footer names a warehouse in Switzerland ("Lagerstandort Schweiz"), and the site promises free shipping and free return shipping. Delivery times appear as "In 2-5 Tagen bei Ihnen" and "Kostenlos geliefert in 5 Tagen". The homepage claims "50'000+ glückliche Kunden" (50,000+ happy customers).

The company story is short. According to the about page, Christian and Jonas founded ofinto in 2020 to develop quality office furniture "endlich fair" (fairly, at last), with the first large business customers arriving in 2021. The team page names Christian Stiefel as Founder and Head of Product Innovation and Jonas Romer as Founder and Head of Digital Experience, alongside a Head of B2B and a separate B2B lead for France and Romandie. The pitch rests on the direct model: a price graphic compares ofinto with a traditional furniture dealer and claims savings of "Bis zu 50%" by cutting out dealer margin.

Four office chairs, two with mesh backs

The chair range is small and clearly priced. The shop lists the Flex Office from CHF 249, the Ergo from CHF 279, the Active from CHF 399 and the Cloud from CHF 449, with free express shipping shown on each.

The two mesh-back models are the ones that matter for this category. The Active is the flagship: the homepage comparison lists seat height and seat depth adjustment, a backrest that locks in several positions, an adjustable lumbar support ("Lordosenstütze"), 4D armrests, an optional seat-tilt function and a synchronous mechanism with adjustable resistance. Its back is described as "Netzrücken aus italienischem Chenille-Garn" (a mesh back of Italian chenille yarn) on an aluminum and steel mechanism and frame, and the table puts it in the "Premium-Segment". The Ergo, which the site calls "Unser Preis-Leistungs-Champion", has a polyester mesh back on a plastic and metal frame, adjustable seat height and depth, a lockable backrest, adjustable lumbar support, optional adjustable armrests and an "Auto-Synchronmechanik" that the site says adapts to body weight automatically.

The Cloud is the upholstered comfort model, sold with the line "Sitzen wie auf Wolken" (sitting as if on clouds) and a Donati mechanism, and the site frames it for people who prefer padding to mesh. The Flex Office is the home-office design piece, pitched as "Endlich ein Bürostuhl, der Ihr Zuhause schöner macht" (finally an office chair that makes your home look better), with what the site calls solid basic ergonomics. The FAQ says the Active, Ergo and Cloud are designed for "8+ Stunden Sitzdauer" (8+ hours of sitting). Beyond seating the shop sells the Rise and Elevate height-adjustable desks, Lumino lamps, Cubox storage and Focus phone booths.

Awards and certifications the site cites

The Active carries the most outside recognition. The homepage quotes FAZ Kaufkompass calling it "Der beste unter 34 getesteten Bürostühlen" (the best of 34 office chairs tested) and labels it "Der FAZ Testsieger". The about page cites the "IGR Innovationspreis Ergonomie 2023" with the quote "Äusserst vorbildlicher Umgang mit Ergonomie", and the homepage lists ofinto as a finalist of the Swiss Economic Awards 2025.

On testing and materials, the site says "Von TÜV bis BIFMA: Führende Prüfinstitute bestätigen die Langlebigkeit unserer Produkte" (from TÜV to BIFMA, leading test institutes confirm the durability of our products) and refers to "Nachhaltige Materialien nach OEKO-TEX und FSC-100% Standards". A sustainability answer is more specific: desktops are FSC or PEFC certified, the Flex Office is over 80 % recyclable and OEKO-TEX certified, and the LED lighting is Minergie certified. The site does not say which BIFMA standard applies to which chair, and it does not publish test reports.

Warranty, trial and returns

The warranty depends on the model. The FAQ says "ofinto gewährt modellabhängig bis zu 10 Jahre Garantie": the Active, Ergo and Cloud chairs and the Rise and Elevate desks come with 10 years on mechanical parts, while the Flex Office and Flex Meeting carry 7 years. The homepage comparison table, however, lists the Ergo with "7 Jahre Garantie", so a buyer choosing that model should confirm which figure applies. In a warranty case, the FAQ says ofinto repairs or replaces defective components "inklusive aller anfallenden Kosten" (including all costs incurred). Business customers are promised a spare-parts service within 48 hours.

Private buyers get a 100-day trial, which the site calls both "100 Tage Geld-zurück" and "100 Tage Wohlfühlgarantie", describing it as a chance to test products risk-free for 100 days at home or with a team. The business page runs a separate offer, "30 Tage kostenlos testen", with test products supplied free so employees can try them first.

Delivery, assembly and the business service

Standard delivery is free across Switzerland, and the site says its professional assembly team sets up new workstations "auf Wunsch" (on request). The FAQ also describes optional extra services that can be booked, such as delivery to the place of use (its example is a fifth floor without a lift) or an assembly service, and says these options are shown transparently with each product.

The business side is more hands-on. The Business Solutions page promises to equip a team "in 5 Tagen", offers personal advice and office planning with a quote within 24 hours, and says ofinto will deliver, assemble and dispose of old furniture. A testimonial from the city of St. Gallen describes full-service delivery and setup within 5 days, and a case study from Strasbourg mentions replacing 20 office chairs in France.

Who it suits

ofinto fits Swiss buyers, and those in the other markets it ships to, who want a mesh chair with published adjustments, a fixed price and a long trial, and who would rather order online than visit a dealer. The Active is the obvious pick for long desk days given its adjustment list and outside awards; the Ergo is the cheaper mesh option. Offices get planning, delivery, assembly and removal of old furniture in one package. The gaps are real: the site does not publish weight ratings, seat-height ranges in centimeters or seat dimensions for its chairs, so anyone outside average proportions should use the showroom or the 100-day trial before committing.
